when i use a high level to help people with low level chars i generally hang back and let them do as much of the work as possible but make sure they get through the mission

No the person went along with me FIGHTING everything with me, there is no way I could have handled the mobs alone. When it got pretty bad he/she brought in there heroes and we used them in a lot of the missions along the way.

Thanks for posting something positive!

On a similar topic, I got a random whisper while on a couple days ago; of all things, it was someone from here I think (I did not find out who, sadly) who had seen me post during the double chest loot weekend when I bemoaned not getting a jade sword. The person gave me two jade swords and some other neat stuff, and I offered to pay for it but he/she said that they were just cleaning out storage anyway.

Cool people rule.

What a refreshing change to see so much positive support in this thread. Thank you ALL (with some minor, self-identifying exceptions) for a great way to end the weekend.

I encounter cool/nice/helpful/courteous people in-game all the time. Nothing big like what the OP encountered, but many little things that add up. The other day I was trying to sell a brute sword at a discounted price (from ventari's sell price, anyway), and someone PM'd me that I could get a lot more for it and they were afraid I was going to get ripped off. We had a nice conversation about the pros and cons of quick sells. (The ability to get back to killin' stuff won the debate - LOL)

P.S: I've still got the thing if anyone's interested. (it's gold & inscribable! )

A few months into guildwars since the release I was looking for a run to droks from beacons (didn't have much money at the time). Found a guy running there for free. When I got there he noticed I was fairly poor at the time. He ended up giving me 20k gold to get armor. So I ended up with a free run to droks and 20k (basically he payed me to go with him lol). Very kind person but I forgot there name .

Earlier today I decided to finally make my second pve character. I was just standing around The Great Northern Wall and this lv 20 guy pops out of nowhere and offers to help me for free. We failed the mission the first time, so he just ended up running me through it. He also ended up running me through the second mission too. To thank him for the help I offered to give him a gold item with a +30 mod for free, but he refused to accept it.

Months of watching people spam their goods and services in the major towns made me really cynical about the people who play this game. I'm glad to know that there's still a few people out there who are willing to help others without wanting anything in return.

Ive met numerious nice people in my time on Gw many of whihc ive become friends with, of which i can think of atleast 3 that stand out as the best people ive met online (its impossoble to choose just one of them).

One is a long standing guild member although they are rarely on Gw anymore we still team up for other games. We helped each other through lots of things
If we needed a hand doing something the other person was always there to help at a moments notice. Combined with other core members of the guild we had alot of fun, and achieved alot of things no one of us could do alone.

Another Person is a friend who i met while running, they asked if they coudl follow me running since they wanted to learn how to do it (they needed it done for themself too) while doing it they got killed and were unable to pay me for the run, i gave them the benefit of the doubt and completed the mission and bonus for them. They were very appreachiative and it started a long friendship. We became Masters of Tryia and helped each other get protector of Tryia on numerious characters and taught each other to do various things.

Another one is a much more recent friend who happens to post on this very forum. Weve helped each other do numerious harder parts of Gw. And if either of us needs or wants and company the other willingly comes to assist. He is the Master of Cantha and knows it like the back of his hand and dispite all my time ive spent there he still knows a good deal more than me.

So heres a little appreciation for the Best People ive met ingame. Thanks for everything over the years without ever asking for anythign in return. Your the Best!

My ex-guild leader, me and my girlfriend meet him in game 18 months ago when we just started GW. He invited us to join his newly form guild ran by him and his wife, he taught us builds, skills, the way the game play, gave us materials for armor etc. He's the kind of guy who always help you out when he can and never ask anything in return. He just play it for fun.

Over time our guild started to get bigger and bigger, 60+ members. But like most of the guilds out there after more than a year of playing, the numbers started to drop. Even myself left the guild and GW altogether for 2-3 months, not long after that, the guild was disband. But he never say anything bad about anyone who left, he just get on with it.

Today, some of us from the old guild are now members of a nice big guild that do both pvp and pve. Even my ex-leader end up joining as well. He still the same as before, he will help out the best he can. I also knew that he would rather lead than follow, same goes for the rest of us who used to be officer in our old guild. But hey! "With no power, come no responsibility", right?

He's still having fun playing GW just like 2 years ago when he started. No matter what the changes, nerf, pvp/pve update. To bad I'm not allow to say his name. But he is the best person I ever meet in Guild Wars. Also most of my old guildies, they were such a great bunch all 40+ of them. Somenight when I log in, I still miss them.

Thank you.

Default If we're sharing ANYWAY....

So I had at least 2 memorable moments.

When I was still a small little W/E with little to no money to his name I noticed that people had these kick @22 swords called Icy Dragon swords. (Yeah I'm talking waay back in 05 peeps.) Back then when I was just starting out 30k was A CRAPLOAD of money to me and I was very far from it. I tried to trade 7 gold items (bad ones mind you) for an IDS and then I actually go a pm from someone. I show him the golds and then he cancels and says "Here just take it." I was like WOAH!!!! (Perfect stats and everything) He also gave me "Strongroots Shelter." because it 'matched with my armor'

Then another time when I was still Guildless. I was doing the missions in Maguuma Jungle and I met three of the craziests players I'd ever come across. They we're all about fun fun and more fun and they had fun doing it. I start joining in on it and through the 4 of us overextending but still surving while taking out a bunch of White Mantel Peeps we wrapped up the mission pretty quick. Then one of them goes "Man why'd you have to join in on that? Now I have to send you a guild invtie!"

*whistles and walks away*

Default Feel the love....

Four players that make GW a better place:
(Not full IGN, but they'll know who they are...and y'all might, too.)

Talon, Vic, Phy & Glory

Not only are they all great players, they are also all generous to a flaw and put up with my schizoid & inconsistent self whenever I flit into their line of sight.

I give out gold and purple weapons. I've realized it's worthless spending the time trying to sell them to people and I rather give it someone who can sue it then to drop it by the merchant. I've had the game for two weeks, leveled up pretty quickly because I was waiting for my internship to start. Then in the last week or so I gave out 50+ weapons to people in ascalon and piken. I was given the same treatment the first couple days so I just continue the trend. Sometimes when I run people, even if they only ask for one stop, I'll give them a few more for either being friendly, or appreciative, or because I feel like it. I definitely would not have leveled as fast if it weren't for some kind people I met on the way.

Hell my Guild Leader, IGN: Poppa C D, is probably the nice person ever. I joine d his guild and he immediately gave me the desert run, a gold monk rod and some supplies to buy my equipment upgrade in droks. I never asked for any of it...I actually was asking for people around my lvl (at the time) to join me in a run if they needed to do it as well. Poppa C D came running in to solo it for me.

He's one awesome guy. If you guys ever need a friendly guild master or an all out nice Kuzick Guild/Guild Alliance, just PM Poppa C D (or Poppa C or Poppa Crankshaft). We do everything, PvP, PvE, GvG, kurzick, lots of faction points, a lot of members. I think it works well because most of the peolpe are mature in the guild - adults with day jobs and sometimes even families - had a great conversation about that one day. Couldn't contribute too much because I'm a 21 yr-old undergrad, heh.

Alright I've said my piece

I get the feeling that now people solo the whole game and be proud of it, showing of that he solo'ed Mission X without players, just heroes.
I for myself play MMO game to interact with people, to do missions with people to do quests with people.but now Guild Wars is much of a single player game with people around you, you can only interact with them in town by a sentence starts with WTB or WTS.
I wish there was no heroes on henchies in this game just like WoW, you actually need a group to get somethings done. Guilds are way more usefull in PvE there.Untill now i can't find 1 good reason to join a guild instead of a chat room.
I am so disappointed now, I like the system of this game, the idea that you can't get better than me by playing for 10 hours+ a day or ebaying money."That's why i left WoW".But the game is just getting more boring everyday.
----------------------------
Anyway, JDMYO, I'm glad you were able to find that player and had a good experience. I'm sure you'll have a good kinship with him/her for your entire GW playing time. coolio!

I was given quite a bit of slightly imperfect loot by the guy who would become my guild leader, back when I was noobtastic. Oh, wait, I still am noobtastic. But I still have some of the imperfects.

And when I invited another guy to join the guild (He was a lvl 4 warrior or so in Ascalon), I passed on some slightly imperfect golds that I had, and plenty of mods.

I rather enjoy helping people, because someone helped me once too. If someone could use the goodies, then hey, I don't really need the fake money for the game. No shame in giving stuff away, and no shame in helping people through the game. It even gives me the goosebumps when I see people do it in alliance chat, or in all chat in towns.

I know my boy friend help people with low level missions. He would refuse to run the missions for them. He usually go as a healing monk, stay back and heal. He will point out the right way to go if you get lost.

One thing he didn't like when helping people is when the people he is helping start to tell him what he should do (ie: "what! this is not a run?", or "OMG I am dead, you are not healing." etc...)
